The Tailoring Project

​

​Reducing the economic vulnerability of women can contribute to the prevention of violence against women and girls.

 

HATD’s Tailoring Project trains women entrepreneurs in tailoring and sewing – essential skills in the Eastern part of the DR Congo.

Art for Healing Trauma​

​

This program works to heal the trauma of women affected by war through art. Women receive coaching about trauma and healing through art in the form of basket weaving. After the training, the women receive kits in order for them to become self-reliant. HATD assists the participants in marketing their baskets in the community and the women earn an income which they can use to invest in more kits.

Day Hope Center​

​

This program offers care throughout the day for orphaned children and street kids affected by the War. We offer art therapy games, drawing, dance, and drama. Children also receive nourishing meals.

ACE Overcomers Program â€‹

 

ACE stands for Adverse Child Experiences, and this program is designed to protect children by abuse and violence prevention trainings in the community. Classes are held with families, churches, schools and hospitals, and help heal wounds due to dysfunction in families.

 Hope Farming Program

 

HATD's Hope-Farming agricultural program is an initiative aimed at strengthening the resilience of rural families, particularly in the province of North and South Kivu, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). including Agricultural entrepreneurship: Encouraging to stimulate the local economy and provide employment Training programs for farmers in modern farming techniques, business management and sustainability. Helping farmers access local and regional markets to sell their produce at a fair price.The Hope-Farming program has contributed to significant improvements in the food security and incomes of participating households.

Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA)

​

VSLA is a successful partnership between HATD and other local NGOs that stimulates the creation of saving groups within communities. Savings groups are self-managed groups of 15 to 25 people who meet regularly to save their money in a safe space, access small loans, and obtain emergency insurance. The majority of participants are women — to increase access to and control over their resources and make long term personal investments.

Hope House​

​

HATD is currently scouting for a plot of land to purchase in order to build the Hope House, a center of hope and resilience. Hope House will initially accommodate 50 Hope children who have been orphaned by wars and are living on the streets. Hope House will have separate dorms for boys and girls, and a cafeteria. The long-term goal is to grow the space to serve up to 2000 orphaned and abandoned children through HATD programming including meals, spiritual leadership and bible study, therapeutic art, drawing, and music, recreational games, and psychological counseling.

Hope Academy​

​

Within Hope House, HATD will house a school for more than 1,500 young people and women, offering training in digital skills and trades, equipping a workforce with rare and desirable skills in the DR Congo.

Hope Fund​

​

HATD will manage a fund dedicated to financing (on rotation) 800 projects and small businesses started by female entrepreneurs.

Hope Sponsorship​

​

HATD will oversee a donor-funded sponsorship to support the school fees and vocational training of more than 2,000 orphaned and abandoned children.
