A. Introduction

In February 2025, a project was initiated to support 10 street girls who were rescued from harsh living conditions and placed in host families in Goma. The project aims to provide comprehensive psycho-social support, improve their emotional well-being, and enhance their integration into new family environments. To achieve these objectives, three key activities were implemented: Counseling, Art Therapy, and Heart Meal shared with 10 rescued street girls . This report summarizes the activities conducted during the month of March 2025, the outcomes, and the challenges faced during the implementation of these activities.

B. ACHIEVMENTS

Achievements have been made with specific  objectives of the counseling, art therapy, and heart meal activities are as follows:

B.1. Counseling:

The counselling has made to provide emotional and psychological support to the rescued street girls, helping them cope with trauma, build resilience, and navigate the challenges of reintegration into family life.

B.1.A. Approach: The counseling sessions focused on building trust and establishing a safe environment where the girls could express their feelings and emotions. Techniques used included talk therapy, active listening, and coping strategies for managing stress and trauma.

On  the same time we administrate to them an ACE Score ( ACE Overcomers curriculum) just to measure their level of adversity so that we may help them accordingly

C. Recommendations for Future Activities

1. Increase the frequency of counseling and art therapy: Given the positive impact, it is recommended to increase the number of sessions per week to ensure continued support for the girls’ emotional well-being.

2. Provide additional community engagement: Organize community-based activities to allow the girls to interact with a wider network of people and strengthen their social support systems

3. Focus on family integration: Offer more family-oriented counseling and workshops to ensure smoother transitions for the girls and further enhance the relationships with their host families.

D.   Next plans  or Needs

1) Food relief for host families hosting Street children each month

 2) To continue the follow up and Counseling at Hope center

3) Praying for bedding, sanitation and clothes support

4) Counseling and host families visit

5) Start some vocational trainings

5) Reunify them after the training in their families with reintegration kits

E. Conclusion

The counseling, art therapy, and heart meal activities in February 2025 have had a significant positive impact on the rescued street girls. These activities provided essential emotional and psychological support, fostered creative self-expression, and strengthened the relationships between the girls and their host families. The girls are showing signs of recovery from past trauma and are gradually integrating into their new lives, thanks to the combined efforts of the project team, the counselors, the art therapist, and the supportive host families.

While challenges remain, the project has laid a strong foundation for the continued growth and well-being of the girls, and it is expected that these interventions will contribute to their long-term resilience and stability.
